Lazy, Geek Boy Wonder, Loud, and Annnoying

Hey, it's family...what can you do?

Did you know it's about 3:40 and I'm not tired? It's been like this for a while now. The other day I didn't get to sleep until 6 in the morning :)

Wow...

Okay so it's been forever since the last time I posted something...oops, not that it really matters much to anyone anyway. Well, tons of things have been happening since the last time I made a post. I don't think I could list all of them, seeing as I have a sucky memory for things like that. I guess I'll start with what I can remember happening.

I am now a senior at my high school (yay) which means that I have now been living in PA for about 7 years. My birthday passed and I'm one year older. We never have parties or anything so I just had chocolate and went to the movies. Oh, but I'm getting ahead of myself by a month. I took a trip to Italy, France, and England in the beginning of June with some friends in my French class. I loved it. I think Rome was the best because I'm a history nerd and I was geeking out at all that history bundled in one place. Our guide was amazing and he put up with so much crap from our huge group. We love you Marcello!

For the fourth of July weekend we went down to Philadelphia and went through tons of historical buildings. It was a nice flashback to 7th grade. I wish I could have gone to Poe's house, though...but apparently I can't read a map to save my life. We went to Valley Forge and Independence Hall. We even went to the Hershey factory and took a hilarious trolley tour (oh Wilber...). I drove all the way down there (it took several hours) and had nightmares about driving that night. It was fun and we had a good time.

As for my summer homework, I had to read Frankenstein (I would have done it anyway) and Lord of the Flies (I also would have read it eventually). Frankenstein is over and done with. I enjoyed it though I didn't feel sorry for the monster at all, like you're supposed to. I'm done with everything about Lord of the Flies too. So now I have a homework free summer.

And for the last big thing that's happened so far, well, it just happened a couple hours ago. I now have my license to drive! Yay! I went on facebook for the first time in months and posted something (major shock there) I have been living in a bubble these past months, but boy has it been enjoyable. My sunflowers that I attempted to grow and nurture have started blooming. They look so pretty.

Well, that's all I can think of at the moment and I'll try to post more from now on. See ya :)

Do we have style now?

We finally have new furniture in our living room and it only took us about six years. Well, the shopping part only took a few days...it was actually getting around to the shopping that was the problem. Anyway, we now have matching furniture! So happy. And the long couch that we got is shorter than the old one but I can still sleep on it without any trouble (that was one of my tests in the store). Everything can recline now too, which is cool. We also have a new table for the dinning room. It's so much taller than the other one and you can put things in the drawers underneath it and even a wine rack. I can't comfortably touch the ground when I sit in the chairs :)

We've had that ratty old couch for almost as long as I've been alive (the only good thing about it was that it was a pull out bed. As for the love seat and the chair...well they probably wouldn't have lasted much longer either. We're finally getting closer to renovating this house! Next stop, flooring! They'll probably take care of that when I move out, though...I don't blame them.

English project part 2 & 3

Sorry for the bad quality...but if you can see anything you're seeing four elephants standing on the turtle with the disk off to the side. I decided that I'm just going to bring it in all in one piece after everything was dried instead of doing it all separately and putting it together in Mrs. Coursen's room. This way it's riskier but I don't really care as long as it's out of my house and in school somewhere. I'll drop it off on the way to Psych if I can. Now I just need to print out my paper on the book and I will be done with two of my books for this quarter.

I had to think out my last book for the quarter after I heard that we needed to have two of the three books written by American authors. That took out some of my voluntary choices but I finally settled with something by Jack London. It was either going to be The Call of the Wild of The Sea Wolf and since I didn't have The Call of the Wild on me I went with The Sea Wolf. Is it just me or was London obsessed with wolves? Maybe not as much as Ahab was with white whales (or spears and maps), but probably really close...

English Project part 1

So I've definitely decided that I'm going to do a sculpture type thing for my visual representation of a book I've read for this quarter. In fact, I have the clay and I've started already. I'm almost a third of the way done with it, but had to stop due to not having tooth picks or other little detail tools. My dad just keifed some from Aunt Shelly, but I'll work on it again later. I've decided that I'll take pitcures each time I stop so Mrs. Coursen won't think I've taken someone else's work (hopefully). It's not perfect, but I'm very proud of myself so far :)
I give you...the Great A'Tuin (without any marks or detail yet)!

I'm going to start working on the four Elephants and the Disk after I get some more clay. The Elephants are going to be blocky, but it'll have to do since I'm not very talented :) The disk should be the easiest part, I just need to figure out if I'm going to have figurative water coming off the edges. I found this really cool picture that I'm trying to reference, but mine will be different in a lot of ways...already is in fact. I don't know about you, but it loks like a giant, glistening brownie to me...though it looks like it would taste terrible...

Nature is a Camera Whore

This was frozen onto our bathroom window. Yay for snow swan! :)
