Mother

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
you've fallen so far
who knew that once
you were as high as a star?

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
so loud and so fun
there was never a cloud
that could black out your sun.

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
it all fell apart
the dream had ended
and you woke with a start.

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
beaten and broken and colored deep red
you drew back, secluded,
inside your own head.

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
you did no more than scream,
calling for help
to the one not seen.

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
this is not the end
though it may seem
like you don't have one friend.

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
you're not alone
we're here together
in this land of the unknown.

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
is this where you land?
On the edge of the world
refusing to accept the offered hand?

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
please speak to me
maybe then and only then
will you be set free.

Oh Madame, Oh Madame,
we can help one another.
So please, oh please
Mother, my mother.
