Geez! How many people ahve aske me that after taking a look at my copy of 'Stranger in a Strange Land'? Too many. I can sort of see where they get it but come on, hasn't anyone ever heard of it before? I mean the cover has V. M. Smith under water with his arms crossed strangely and a girl (I hesitate to say it's Jill after what's been going on in the book...bit of a manwhore aren't ya Mike?) kissing his forehead upside down.
I'm 300 pages into the book and it's taking a weird turn...don't get me wrong, I really like it, but it's definately different from the beginning parts because Mike's becoming more aware.
Some of the world history is messed up and the slang the characters used just makes me want to laugh...but that's because the book was written in 1961. The concepts are amazing, though, and the author is a master of dialogue and characterization which isn't only limmited to this novel, in fact I just found out that Heinlen is the same person who wrote Starship Troopers. I'm pretty sure I'm going to use it for my next English reading project when I get it done...and if I do it early, I might be able to do 'The Brother's Karamozov' for the same project, but I don't know. I should be better prepaired this time :)
you should let me read it too =)
